There has been on ongoing “rant” about the title of Master Gardener. Many think that the name needs to be changed and that many MG’s let the name go to their head and that many are even… boring! Yawn. Really? Here’s the deal for me. You’re going to find many boring people in many fields. Get over it! You will also find many “experts” in many fields who have let their title go to their head. Doctors come to mind here. But they’re still freakin intelligent and knowledgeable in their field. It doesn’t mean they know it all. They continue education and practice their skills. My martial arts instructors are considered Masters and are incredibly skilled. But they continue to practice and continue to learn. THAT’s what Masters do. I think some of these people should look in Oxford’s dictionary and find out what master really means. Ok. So maybe the entire MG program throughout the US is not equal in education, training and volunteering. But it’s run primarily by volunteers. We are volunteers, people! Ok. So if we should look at renaming the program, maybe Master Gardener apprentice would be more appropriate. Apprentice or not, I need to stop ranting and get back to my garden. peace out
I can’t believe there’s only one more day til my Grand Opening. I feel pretty proud of myself to be opening my own business while managing chronic pain. It’s taken me many years to get here. I was thinking this morning about how grateful I am to be where I am right now. And wondering if I’d be this grateful if I hadn’t been to hell and back a few times. Hmmm. Either way, I am grateful. In my gratitude journal, I have about 25 separate entries indicating about 25 people helping me in some way to get this business going. How can one person be so richly blessed? I don’t have the answer. All I know is that I’m truly grateful.
